Efficient management system

Startups and indie video game studios chaotic nature comes from not being aware of the importance of an efficient collaborative environment. Too many tools, too many contexts, too many work methods, too much of everything and too much of nothing.

Where to start my story? Long ago I attended business management vocational studies in Perth Australia. I went to a school to extend my visa in the first place but gradually I started to like the whole thing about how companies work. Later on, working in the indie video game industry showed me that in spite of being passionate about your work, your products aren't likely to see the light if you don't have a business structure to support them. Sadly, that's the case of most studios, they don't have a business plan, procedures to follow or a tool environment that enhances collaboration among their stakeholders.

When indie studios and startups face the reality of having dreams in the midst of chaos, they hurry into finding software that can restore order at the snap of a finger. Unfortunately, that is not the solution especially when owners want to implement such quick fixes during production. By doing that, they only confuse team members and force them to change into a new work paradigm while dealing with deadlines.

Scrum and agile can speed up indie studios and startups when they're well implemented but there are alternative models that can work better. One of them has been created by 37 signals after a great deal of experience running a business remotely. Its effeciency and results motivated me to design one for the video game studio I had more influenced on. Such method covered synchronous and asynchronous communication between team members with Clickup and Discord. Besides, it presented a development process focused on delivering components reflected in dedicated cards instead of the huge backlog we all know well.

My organizational project also included good practices for handling chat conversations that facilitate work activities and troubleshooting. With this communication model I demostrated that team members can interact effectively without the unnecessary chat noise that frequently slows them down.

The project presentation slides are in Spanish but still I'd like to share them.
